How to remove autorun.inf virus from system?

Autorun.inf Virus: One of the most silly worm, which installs itself to all the removable drives (including your system), forming a folder icon as shown in picture.





If you, by mistakenly opened that drive (with folder icon), the worm will be installed in your memory and will keep infecting your removable drives! 
First of all, we suggest you to get a updated Antivirus (not cracked or patched). Get Net Protector or any thing else that the dealer suggests.
You can cop with this virus using the following methods.


If you have opened the infected the drive, consult method 1. While if you haven't opened it, go for Method 2 which will tell you how to remove it from removable drives.




METHOD 1 
REMOVING FROM SYSTEM


If you opened the infected flash drive, it is 90% chance that your system is infected by this worm. Follow these to get rid of it.


REMOVING FROM SYSTEM RESTORE FOLDERS:

• First, start your computer in Safe Mode.
• Right Click the My Computer icon and select Properties.
• Click the System Restore tab and check the "Turn off System Restore in all drives" button. Hit Apply.

Now all the worms that were spread in the system volume folder has been removed.

REMOVING FROM RECYCLERS FOLDER

• While you are in Safe Mode, open My Computer.
• Go to:  Tools >Folder Options >View 
• Select "Show Hidden Files and Folders". Also, uncheck "Hide Protected operating System files". Click Ok.

Now you will see some secret folders appearing on all your Hard drives. One of them (which will be used) is Recyclers folder.

• Open Recyclers folder and delete all the content of it.
• Follow this for all drives.

Worm is removed from Recyclers folder.

MANAGE STARTUP PROGRAMS

The worm adds itself  to the star up list to execute at every boot of system. You can remove it by

• Open Run and type "msconfig".
• Under "startup" tab, you will see a list of programs to be started at each boot.Select programs that are required, unchecked the unused or undefined programs. 

Now all the autorun virus is removed from the system. Be aware of folder iconed removable drives. Also, get a licensed Antivirus. 




METHOD 2
REMOVING FROM REMOVABLE DRIVES


Donot open the drive until the virus is removed. Download the Autorun remover program from here  (Trouble Download?)


Run this program and click Start Scan (ALL INFECTED DRIVES MUST BE INSERTED BEFORE RUNNING THIS PROGRAM).
It will scan and remove all the Auto run viruses and install a file which will protect from autorun virus being installed on that drive. Remove the drive, reconnect. Now everything is normal.
Your system is secure now :D
